[12/02/2016]: “The Basement from Above”

“The Basement from Above”

The group Fresh Grown Herbs is introduced to the theatrical audience with the first work of the author Andreas Andreadis: “The Basement From Above”, at the Fabrica space from February 12.
Once upon a time, he was a hero – every hero. The search for light led him to unprecedented adventures, he met friendship and deception, he traveled through familiar landscapes to unknown worlds. And he found the dragon. She had her own face. Lucia is looking for a job in a hotel. There, she meets her beliefs that have a flesh and a name. Advised by luck, she dives into the depths of her soul, into the subconscious, into a game where no one knows the rules. Is a lost game won?

“Estrogen 2 Oxygen” by the theatrical group “Lmd”

“Estrogen 2 Oxygen” by the theatrical group “Lmd”
The theatrical group “Lmd” after presenting a first part of its play “Estrogen 2 Oxygen” in the context of the Bob Theater Festival and the Off-oFF Athens Festival continues, with the now completed form of its play, at the renovated Fabrica Art Space.

The team consists of Sofia Lampidoni, Olivia Lapata and the director Thomas Havianidis.

Director’s Note

A vulgar work in an exhibition. It causes! To others perhaps laughter, to others apathy. But a young girl, the custodian of the exhibition, is confronted with her image and her unfulfilled personal and professional goals. It explodes! The work within her awakens her, follows her in her most daily thought becomes her other self, leads her to a game of associative thoughts, a philosophical search for love, religion, madness as well as existence itself.

It is vulgar and yet it happens all the time! It’s an explosion of estrogen at a time when its standards are nearing perfection and it demands that you want to control everything. You think about how to find the courage to face the world and yourself. She is attacking!

The show will go up November 11, 2015 – January 7, 2016, every Wednesday & Thursday at 21:45, at the Technoparka “Fabrika” (125 Meg. Alexandrou & Evrymedontos, Kerameikos) with a break during the New Year week (No performances 30 & 31 December 2015).

INTERVIEW: A socio-political black comedy by the group “WE”

INTERVIEW: A socio-political black comedy by the group “WE”
One job interview, four candidates and one vote.
Humiliating questions and trials, leading to a process of comedic-tragic absurdity

The idea

Power – Those in power. The system – The citizens. Capital – Consumers.
Employers – Employees. The voice – The candidates
Timeless relationships of hatred and passion, conflict and interdependence.

At a time when these opposite poles are moving away, at a steadily accelerating pace, “WE” present their comedic-tragic relationship, exploring its limits, with a mood of mocking demonization, stubbornly excluding gloom and misery.

The play

A job interview. One voice (power). Four candidates.

The candidates represent four social groups, which are dramatically affected by the current conditions and which are in the arena of job search (manual workers, artists, scientists, unskilled workers). It is the voice that evaluates every citizen who wishes to work and decides on recruitment in all areas of work without exception. Sooner or later, all the human resources will be forced to go through the “interview”.

The interview begins formally, in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Candidates relax and let their weaknesses be revealed. The voice slowly begins to manipulate them, asking them irrational questions and forcing them to humiliating trials. The candidates are in despair and have nothing to lose. They thus lead to a cannibalistic process of competition. All this absurdity fatally provokes comic dialogues and situations.

Next candidates? The audience…

Why free contribution

Because art must be accessible to all. How much more an art that claims the privilege of representing the underprivileged. An art that requires to be judged by the result.

We are looking forward to a spectator, who will not be a consumer of an entertainment product, but an active sponsor of an artistic process and an integral part of it.

Our action, with the practice of free contribution, will remain viable only if, in a climate of solidarity, the spectator who has the financial means, covers the possible weakness of his composer.

The Crowser Game: A Sociopolitical Black Comedy by “US”

The Crowser Game: A Sociopolitical Black Comedy by “US”
“We” present our new show. Following the path set by Interview, but following the opposite course this time, we seek to illuminate the other side of the same coin.

It’s a typical night at the Crowser mansion. The shipowner Paul Krauser, his wife and philanthropist, Goldie, her adopted son, and contemporary cursed poet, Alexander, their family friend and UN representative. Monica Komninou and her drug-addicted brother, Michael, have gathered to play in the interactive Krouzer simulation room. At their service is the Afghan immigrant Mirava.

The night takes an unexpected turn, when the company decides to include Miravas in the game. A fatal decision, which leads to a comically tragic conflict between two impoverished worlds. And the blood cycle holds up well. But who will be the winner of the game this time?

“Who was the killer of my brother” by G. Vizyinos from the group “Chimera”

“Who was the killer of my brother” by G. Vizyinos from the group “Chimera”
The group “Chimera” presents at Art Space Fabrika, the short story of Georgios Vizyinos, “Who was my brother’s killer”.

The play:

In the short story “Who was my brother’s killer” G. Vizyinos narrates the events surrounding the death of his brother, Christakis, as well as the anxious efforts of the mother to find the murderer of her child. The story begins in Constantinople where George meets after several years his mother and his brother, Michael. There they will be hosted in their home by a Turkish family, who want to thank the author’s mother in this way, because she had treated for seven months Kiamilis, the son of the Turkish family, whom he had found covered in blood on the street. The stories of the heroes begin to unfold and with them the murders of the past come to life.

The show:

Three actors undertake to play all the roles in the play. Eight portraits and a backdrop, balancing between childhood and realism, are their tools for a journey through time in order to find the truth. Through the elaborate plot, the deep alternations of emotions and finally the reversal, the original and complete characters of the work are revealed. The diffuse emotion and sympathy concerns real persons and not fictional characters, a fact that underlines the autobiographical character of the work.

They are the creators of a theatrical performance that is prepared and performed at the time it is presented to the public. There is no pre-arrangement. Everything is created on stage on the occasion of the proposals of the audience. The spectators are the ones who give the ideas and the theme that will inspire the actors to construct each scene that will be presented.

“Lies or truth” by the theatrical group “MIND THE GAP”
A political tale.

“It is rumored that a group of citizens of the fairytale state are secretly gathering with the aim of organizing actions against the authoritarian authorities.”

Once upon a time, it was a distant state. In this distant state, all people lived by telling fairy tales. The money there was unnecessary. Even hunger passed with fairy tales.

One day in this distant state the citizens decided to record their history and organize their future. A leader was needed for this organization. A leader that everyone elected unanimously ..
Once upon a time – not so good weather – the need to tell a fairy tale ceased and it became an obligation…
