Fabrica – An Artspace in The Center of Athens

Fabrica consists of a series of physical spaces that host events, activities, and performances. Its two main physical venues are Texnoxoros Fabrica (125 Megalou Alexandrou St., Athens) and Rektifier Theater (119 Konstantinoupoleos Ave., Athens). Below is a brief overview of these spaces.

Fabrica Artspace

In the heart of Kerameikos, at the corner of Megalou Alexandrou and Evrymedontos streets, lies the versatile venue of Fabrica Athens – Fabrica Artspace: a meeting point for art, research, education, and contemporary creation. Fabrica was established as an open cultural space, hosting a wide spectrum of artistic events and initiatives aimed at promoting and supporting contemporary artistic expression, entertainment, and arts education.

Rektifie Theater

Over time, Fabrica Athens expanded its activity by acquiring its second stage, the Rektifier Theater on Konstantinoupoleos Avenue—an additional space for theatrical expression and creation that complements and enriches its artistic footprint. Through its two stages, Fabrica Athens continuously builds bridges of communication between artists and audiences, fostering artistic exploration, experimentation, and collaboration.

Rektifie Theater is a hub for gathering, creation, and artistic exploration in Athens. With a focus on the performing arts, it hosts theater performances, dance, music, and actions that encourage experimentation and dialogue. It is a vibrant space where different artistic practices intersect, new ideas emerge, and creators and audiences share experiences while discovering fresh ways of expression and communication.

Fabrica Theater Stage

The stage at Fabrica Artspace is an entirely handmade creation by Fabrica Athens, built 100% with recycled and second-hand materials. The venue accommodates both the group’s own activities and hosted events. Designed around the concept of a black box, it features a 50 sq.m. theater stage, a trapdoor, dressing rooms, backstage storage, as well as professional sound, lighting, and projection equipment, with a seating capacity of up to 50 viewers. Furthermore, the underground theater space is equipped with ventilation, air conditioning, and heating. The Fabrica Theater Stage is ideal for small-scale performances, rehearsals, screenings, presentations, lectures/discussions, and hosts weekly classes and independent workshops.

Ground Floor

The ground floor of the venue is a bright, airy space filled with handcrafted and vintage touches, continuously updated by the Fabrica Athens team to provide the best possible experience for visitors. At first glance, one might take it for a cozy neighborhood cafe-bar with an artistic flair—perfect for working on a laptop, reading a book, enjoying homemade food, or having an evening drink with friends. However, its function is truly multi-faceted.

First and foremost, the ground floor serves as the foyer for the Fabrica Theater Stage and a reception area for the theater’s other activities (classes, rehearsals, etc.). Additionally, it is fully equipped to host exhibitions, lectures, presentations, screenings, seminars, conferences, and live artistic events (theater, circus, puppetry, music, and more). It is also well-suited for social and private events. The ground floor is wheelchair accessible, features bike parking, and pet friends are always welcome in this artistic sanctuary.

Mezzanine

Cinema Fabrica

An artistic nook of 25 sq.m. sits right above the ground floor. The mezzanine of “Fabrica” serves as the organization’s office and, upon request, can be made available as a reading area. In addition, it can be adapted into an exhibition space suitable for screenings as well.

The Courtyard & “Secret Paradise”

The courtyard of Texnoxoros Fabrica along with its “secret paradise” form an unexpected oasis in central Athens. Every year, the Fabrica Athens team pours boundless care and creativity into crafting an open-air artistic courtyard, open from late spring until the first autumn rains. From morning until late at night, the courtyard offers visitors everything from coffee and cocktails to homemade bites and unique experiences.

The courtyard mainly hosts artistic and entertainment events, such as music nights with curated DJs, exhibitions, street theater shows, and festivals. On any given day, you might also run into an educational workshop by the team or its guest artists. As for the “secret paradise”—the hidden garden of the courtyard—it is a spot for those seeking to be inside and outside the city at the same time. Just ask us, and we will guide you right to it.
