The seminar Sculpting Presence: A Psychophysical Approach for Actors with Katerina Drakopoulou, is part of the International Research Theater Laboratory – OSMOSIS, which will be held as part of the 13th HRTFest.<\/p>\n

It is a ten-day, international laboratory with trainers of theater and performing arts from all over the world (Greece, Italy, Germany, Poland, Denmark, USA), which will end in the creation of the show Osmosis – The Performance: an open artistic jam with the directon of Fabrica Athens, which will seal the closing ceremony of the Festival.<\/p>\n

Workshop Description:<\/p>\n

This workshop invites participants to cultivate their stage presence through psychosomatic processes, drawing inspiration from Butoh. The training is organized around three axes:<\/p>\n

concentration through stillness, slowness, isolation and sculptural form,<\/p>\n

receptivity and response through the exploration of the experience of \u201csomething moves you\u201d and<\/p>\n

transformation through the somatization of poetic images.<\/p>\n

Through these practices, participants are invited to develop the body, mind, sensation and imagination as a single, living organism of expression. By deepening awareness, cultivating sensitivity and expanding their expressive spectrum, participants open space for new creative possibilities and strengthen their stage presence. The workshop offers a field of experimentation, where familiar patterns of movement and perception are softened and the authentic expressive dynamics of the performer emerge.<\/p>\n

Biography:<\/p>\n

Katerina Drakopoulou is an actress\/performer, physical theatre\/movement trainer, and performance maker.<\/p>\n

She studied in the UK and specialized in physical theatre (MA in Ensemble Physical Theatre, University of Huddersfield; MA in Performance, Goldsmiths College; BA in Drama and Theatre Studies, University of Kent). After completing her studies, she taught as a lecturer at the University of Leeds and Manchester Metropolitan University. She currently teaches Physical Theatre, Movement for Actors, and Performance at the American College of Greece and the Theatre of Change.<\/p>\n

She has taken workshops with Roberta Carreri (Odin Teatret), Michael Wighton (Viewpoints-Suzuki training), Matej Matejka (Grotowski-based training), David Glass Ensemble, Richard Crawford and Emmanuelle Delpech (Lecoq), Euripides Laskarides, Elli Papakonstantinou, Savozopoulos, Doromparides, Savrombolou, Savvaros Strouas.<\/p>\n

She studied Japanese Butoh dance with important teachers such as Minako Seki, Ko Murobushi, Atsushi Takenouchi, Masaki Iwana, Yumiko Yoshioko, etc. She collaborated as a performer with Butoh artists Tetsuro Fukuhara, Valentin Tszin, Katsura Kan, and the Torifune Butoh-Sha group. Since 2016 she has developed her artistic research into the interaction of the Butoh body with the natural\/urban landscape within the framework of the itinerant, site-specific Butoh performance entitled 22 stops which was presented and awarded with commendation at the In Progress Feedback Festival (Kinitiras, 2016).<\/p>\n
