In the annual course “Theater of Research” participants will be trained as “Dimensional Performers”, ie Performers, who:

They self-manage their art

They learn how to research, to be independent creators and trainers of performing arts, but also how to be efficient with their presence in a team and in the hands of another creator

They have a multidimensional view of the performing arts and are equipped with the right tools to maneuver in a variety of interpretive ways.

They receive a comprehensive theatrical training and multiple stimuli in order to choose their own specialization in the performing arts. They know practically and theoretically the physical theater, the devised theater, the street theater / street performance, the site specific performance and the theater as a social and anthropological tool (social theater).

During the 3 quarters of the annual theatrical workshop, the trainees will be trained on world-renowned methods and techniques of physical theater, but also techniques that have been developed through the path of the Research Theater itself. More specifically, the participants will practice ground acrobatics, Jerzy Grotowski and Odin Teatret physical theater techniques, yoga and qigong practices, mime and theatrical clown techniques, as well as Susan Batson acting techniques.

For those who like dancing, acrobatics, juggling or all three, HoopDance is the perfect combination for them in one lesson! Widespread mainly in the USA, but also in some parts of Europe, Hoopdance (the dance with a wreath – hula hoop), is a special way of expression, exercise and fun.

HoopDance is aimed at those who are bored of dancing alone, those who like dancing and acrobatic elements in it and those who like to learn themselves by connecting with something outside of themselves. In addition, it is aimed at professional and amateur performers – artists of performing arts and spectacle (circus, theater, dance, etc.), who seek experimentation and the acquisition of new skills.

This course is open to all levels. Group and personal work is done with each participant individually, depending on his level and needs. Within an hour and a half hoopdancers practice various principles of HoopDance and learn trick with the wreath, which in the end we include in a choreography (hoopography).

Those interested are asked to wear comfortable, sports clothes, while those who have their own wreath to have it with them.

Acrobatic Dance

05 Oct. 11.00-13.00

07 Oct. 18.00-20.00

Rapporteur: Natassa Arabatzi

During the lessons we will research the kinetic vocabulary of modern dance and we will work on both the physical capabilities (technique, dynamics, flow, balance and acrobatics) as well as the expansion of our dance memory. We will explore the possibilities of sequencing small and larger dance / kinetic combinations, and their functionality in the space. We will play with the alternations in the composition of these combinations (sequence, quality and speed).

The aim of the course is to find the mechanics of each movement and its possible alternations, to play the limits of a three-dimensional movement in space and to develop a choreographically complex result that will emerge through simpler kinetic materials.

The course is aimed at people of all levels in contemporary dance.

Yoga classes are a personal encounter with the breath, body and mind.

The space and what it includes.

Meeting with the inside, the outside and the space between them.

With the game and the knowledge that emerges from the satisfaction of our source need and curiosity.

With pause and silence.

A link to I Am That.

The basic idea of the seminar is to move, dance and communicate, letting ourselves be influenced by the space itself and what it contains. Shape, volume, light, sounds, textures, animals, people. But also ourselves. With every movement, with every small or big change, the space changes with it and the way I exist and move in it.

Participants are invited to kinetically explore the urban landscape around the Fabrica Athens complex and to change / influence it with their main material their bodies and what they bring. The endless possibilities offered by the outdoor space itself. What “I” want to “say” or consciously add (interior space) to the body. And the others.

The aim of the seminar is to create together, from scratch and within 3 (three) days, a small outdoor performance with all the above materials. The lessons will be given exercises that will warm up and solve our body kinetically, dance and in contact (physical or not) with the other people who will participate.

The seminar is addressed to people with or without any experience in dance, but with a good relationship with their body and movement. It is essential to wear sports shoes and comfortable clothes, and to have with you wipes, antiseptic and a change of clothes for later.
